Mission Statement:
At Green Eggs & Goats, the mission is to glorify God by welcoming those who long for the country life and equipping them with an “I can do it” attitude by sharing my know-how and entertaining them with my stories.
Who am I?
I am a wife, daughter, mother of 4, homeschooler, black belt, homesteader, egg gatherer, cow milker, goat chaser, country girl and having way too much fun blogging about it all!
Where do I live?
I live in the small town of Remlap, Alabama. We are located about 30 minutes north of Birmingham. We moved here in 2011 after living in the suburbs for 10 years. Before that, we were located just outside of Athens, Georgia (Go Dawgs!) And in case you were wondering about our town’s strange name, Remlap is “Palmer” spelled backwards.
Why did we move to the sticks?
I just felt boxed in by the city. I hated the constant noise of cars and sirens. As strange as it sounds, I hated being able to have any item I desired within a 15 minute drive. I need fresh air and room to roam! I needed a yard for my kids to run around in, to dig holes in, and just to be kids. I needed a pond for my husband to fish in after a long day of work while I finish cooking dinner. I needed chickens and goats! I was simply not cut out for the role of suburban housewife. Simply put, I belong here. (But it took a tornado to get my attention! More about that later…)
What critters do we have?
Well it seems to vary on a day to day basis, but we currently have 6 cows, about 15 chickens, 3 donkeys, 2 dogs, 1 cat, a giant pet pig, and a pond full of bream and bass! Sadly, our new homestead is not currently conducive to raising goats.
Where else can you read about Green Eggs and Goats?
I’m so glad you asked! Be sure to “like” my Facebook page and follow me on Pinterest. I also have a home business called Delightful Towels where I print fun designs on tea towels. I would love for you to come check out our work, especially our farm and garden towels!

I am trying to find a source of raw goat’s milk. I have three “senior” dogs and the vet has recommended this as an additional source of calcium for them. Do you sell milk? thanks
Oh, dear….Heather we did this back in the late 70’s and 80’s when the children were really small. My husband worked for the Alabama Forestry in St. Clair County. John Denver was singing, “Life in the country is kinda laid back” which was the joke of the century. Never worked so hard in all my life. Goats, chickens, rabbits, gardens, pond and “off grid” until we could convince Alabama Power we really did live waaaaay back in Sodom (really named that long before we arrived), half way between Springville and Ashville. Forestry Commission moved us into B’ham and were we miserable. After several months my son asked if we couldn’t please move back to the country…but near the mall. Living in S. GA on 14 acres now with a garden for now.
Ha! That made me smile so big! My kids like to live in the country too, but sure wish we were closer to karate! 🙂
