Back to the dining room though, I have just a few more things to complete, but I’m sure it will evolve in time. For now, I’ll show it to you as it stands. I plan to do a future post about all the materials I used in here and what I thought of them. Oh, and I swear that all the walls are the same color, but the lighting in the different shots make it look very different in some pictures. I can’t decide if the color should be called “Shrek” or “Grinch” but it is definitely green!
Fun colors pop on chairs and in the artwork |
I just love my Pink Chicken Rooster Purchased at Pepper Place Farmer’s Market By a local artist named She-She |
I removed the back of the hutch, papered it with the paintable beadboard and painted it red In lieu of the glass that kept falling out anyway, we installed chicken wire! |
Here’s a better look at the chicken wire door |
I just love the detailing of chicken wire. The sharp, pointy ends, I could do without. |
I have an antique saw to hang over the rooster picture. That should help anchor this wall and make it look less bare. I may add some other “country junk” to this wall too. |
Redneck wine glass holder with rooster clock and “chicken wine” It’s actually Rex Goliath Pinot Noir, very tasty and inexpensive! The rooster on the label doesn’t hurt. |
Just a friendly reminder. |
I hope you have enjoyed my dining room tour! I know I am enjoying the ability to have meals at an actual table again, so I am thrilled to have this project *mostly* behind me. I’m looking forward to starting the kitchen in a few weeks. I’m hoping to recharge a little this week and catch up on the rest of the house! Wish me luck!

I adore the colors you used! Those are just fantastic. What is the wall color? In my last house, the kitchen was a granny smith apple green.
Thank you! It is Sherwin Williams “Frolic” (as mixed by Lowe’s…)
Wow! I love your lighting fixture! Okay, question about the bead board-is it like wallpaper beadboard you put in there and then painted? Or some other kind of paper?
I love it so much I can’t hardly stand it!
I love how it turned out! The color is great and I love the bead board and chair rail. The chicken wire is too cool! Awesome job. Congrats on the new laptop too!
I love the “come gather at our table” sign. How inviting! And your dining room looks wonderful! The rake/wine glass holder is such a fun touch!
Really lovely! I love everything, and the chicken wire is a wonderful touch!
Your dining room is so darned cute, Heather…love the wall color. I like your wine glass holder…
So very cute. I love the hutch with the chicken wire…and the red chairs.
Great job! I like the red accents everywhere…you did a really good job with bold colors…enjoy!
Very pretty colors! I love anything chicken or rooster and you did a beautiful job with them. And it’s nice you didn’t over-do the decorations.
I love all the great colors! Thanks for sharing on The Creative HomeAcre!
