One of the many great selling points when we moved to the country was the nice above ground pool in the back yard. We enjoyed it very much last year, but toward the end of the season, we started having trouble with the pool leaking. We noticed that there were multiple patches in the corners, so we priced a new liner online and decided that it would be worth it to go ahead and replace the liner before the next swimming season.
Well, long story short. Our pool is not a standard above ground pool. Basically, it would require a specially made inground pool liner, and that will run more than double what we had budgeted for the project.
Eric and I have decided that we will just be forced to repair the existing liner, but we will pay to have it professionally patched.
Now we have come to the real problem…
Because we were planning to get a new liner, we never covered the pool over the winter. It is filled with 6 months worth of leaves and general gunk. Ugh. It now will have to be cleaned, filled, filtered, shocked, and patched before we can even think about swimming in it.
Wish us luck.
I bet you’ve got some GREAT tadpoles in there. Science day!
You know I don’t do frogs, right? If there are tadpoles, I’m calling YOU!
Hello! Don’t feel bad. Ours looks just like yours. When your ready drain it.
Then someone has to get in , and sweep it out. We then wash it with sponges and dish soap. Then, patch and fill it! I’ll wish you luck, but you don’t need it!
This is great information! So you do recommend draining? The people at the pool store said not to, but I’m not entirely sure they knew what they were talking about!
Yes! Pump it out. Start fresh, you won’t need so many chemicals.
Drain it out to the road, away from the garden etc.
