The Cow

I ran across this poem a few weeks ago when I read it to Lucas during school.  I really loved it, as it captured my Beulah Belle perfectly, so I wanted to share it here.  I checked, and it is, in fact, old enough to be in the public domain.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Jersey Cow Close Up

The Cow
by Robert Louis Stevenson
The friendly cow all red and white,
I love with all my heart:
She gives me cream with all her might
To eat with apple tart.
She wanders lowing here and there,
And yet she cannot stray,
All in the pleasant open air,
The pleasant light of day;
And blown by all the winds that pass
And wet with all the showers,
She walks along the meadow grass,
 and eats the meadow flowers.

Had you heard that one before?  It was new to me, but it’s my new favorite!  I’m thinking maybe I need to paint a copy for my wall or something!  What do you think?
