Bovine birth announcement

A Homestead First: Bovine Birth Announcement

In case you didn’t see it on Facebook yesterday, here is the official bovine birth announcement for the newest member of our homestead!

After a long wait, Beulah Belle the Jersey Cow gave birth on Halloween to a sweet 60 pound (give or take) calf that we named “Bellatrix” after one of the Death Eaters from Harry Potter.  We figured a Halloween baby deserved a witchy name.

A birth announcement for a calf!

So far she is a very sweet calf, and Beulah is proving to be a great mama.  Even with Bellatrix staying with her all the time right now, we are getting over 2 gallons of amazing, creamy milk per day!

In other news, I’m doing some “behind the scenes” work here on the blog, in hopes of improving my navigation and helping readers find the posts they are interested in.  So now is your chance, if there is a change you would like to see on this blog, or something that bugs you, let me know.  I’m wearing my big girl panties, I can handle it!

I’m also working to make some of my older images more Pin-able so that people can find my posts more easily on Pinterest.  Speaking of Pinterest, do you follow me there?  I have tons of great links on homesteading, gardening, crafting, food, and more, so come check out my boards!

To keep up with Beulah, Bellatrix and all their crazy antics, you might want to follow my “Fresh Milk 101” Pinterest board.  And be sure to sign up for Beulah’s Moooooosletter (that cow’s a HOOT!)
