Then Beulah came over to see if we had brought her any snacks. We snapped a few pictures and then headed to the other side of the barn, where we figured the other goats must be resting.
Did you bring me apples? |
Empty.
No sign of them in the pasture either. Strange, they must be munching leaves back behind the dam, I thought. Savannah and I headed on around the pond. I still needed more pictures, dangit!
No goats.
Well, that’s not good I thought as I looked around again. They’re out somewhere.
She says, “Did you lose something?” |
About that time, I spied a cow in my neighbor’s pasture staring at me with the strangest accusatory look. I took a few more steps to gain a better vantage point and sure enough, 8 goats glanced up at me with faces that all said “Busted.”
Savannah yelled “Goats, you get back here right now!” They must have known the 4 year old meant business, because they all made a dash for the hole in the fence, darted up the hill and ran around the pond to stand at the gate.
Bunch of stinkers.
Vannah and I plodded along after them, snapping pictures as we went.
The cows next door mooed a word of thanks and I got the pictures I had been hoping for. All things work out in the end.
I suppose now the problem is figuring out when we can possibly fix the fence before leaving town!
