My children have always been a little suspicious of sweet potatoes. Recently though, they broke down and tried my sweet potato puree (which they call “baby food”) and they all loved it! In fact, 4 year old Savannah now asks for it on a daily basis, so it will definitely be included in our Thanksgiving menu this year!
We started pureeing sweet potatoes at the end of last season, because our second digging of sweets didn’t get enough water, and were very stringy. I hated to waste them, so instead, I tossed them into the Vitamix and just bashed them until they were smooth! I’m pretty sure the ones from this year aren’t stringy, but they like them this way, so I am just going with it!

Hi Heather! That sounds so delicious! How awesome that you raised your own sweet potatoes! I hope to do that next year! I have so much to learn about gardening still! Maybe I can learn how to grow sweet potatoes from you! Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!
You will love growing sweet potatoes! They are pretty much my favorite thing to grow! They are easy to grow, have beautiful vines and flowers and when you dig them, the rewards are awesome! I hope you try it!
