Coming Soon: Farmhouse Style Blog Hop!

I am very excited to announce that I am going to start hosting a weekly blog hop!  I held off at first, because I wanted to make sure I had a fresh new idea for my hop.  One thing I am really going to be working on this year is trying to infuse some farmhouse style into my little 1970s farmhouse that currently has no style at all, so that is where my inspiration came from.

I’m looking for your best posts about creating your own style in your home, barn, chicken coop or other favorite space.  DIYs, tutorials, crafts, decorating, it’s all welcome.  Farm girls (and boys) and city-dwellers alike can strive to have a little country in their style, so everyone is welcome!

Here is just a little bit more about me.  I have a background in Interior Design, but, as it turned out, the profession wasn’t quite what I hoped it would be.  It never fulfilled my inherent need to be creative.  Fast forward 12 years, and I have finally found myself.

I’m Heather.
I love farming.
I love animals.
I love to grow food and find no time whatsoever to care for non-edible plants.
I am a wife and mother.
I am a terrible housekeeper, but a great cook.
I am cheap.  Really cheap.  (Call it frugal if it makes you feel better.)
I thought I hated design, but maybe I just didn’t like designing office cubicles.  Maybe I just didn’t like designing for others.  I do love design, but on my terms.

So, there you have it!  I will be posting my farmhouse facelifts this year and continuing to look for inspiration from your posts.  Let’s create something!

I will be starting the blog hop next week.  Pipe up if you have a preference for which day of the week it should be!

UPDATE:  I have decided to host this blog hop on Wednesdays starting January 9, 2013!  Please join me!

  1. Oh, I love this idea! I think we might be twins when it comes to your list describing yourself. I am in the midst of trying to make over our old farm house at the moment and trying to figure out what I want it to “be.” It feels like it is in limbo-land and I want to get it settled. I don’t know how to describe it, but it just doesn’t seem homey to me. And that’s what I want most of all.

    1. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels that way! Did you see the follow up comment last week to see that I’m Cindy’s neice-in-law? Maybe we are connected! LOL!

  2. Heather, I would be happy to join you, but the only thing I have to offer are weekly tablescapes and an occasional recipe or trip to the thrift stores.
