If you have been reading this blog for awhile, you may know that last October we packed up the kids and headed across the pond to Ireland for an epic (and much needed) trip to visit family. I had been before on an extended trip as a teenager and once as a toddler, but as you can imagine, we still had lots to learn! So, here is a helpful (I hope) list of things we learned on our trip to Ireland!
- Never trust the GPS without looking at the route on the map for yourself.
- Driving in Dublin is not for the faint of heart.
- The Irish Love Clotheslines.
- Diesel is the BLACK handle over there, not the green. Just sayin’.
- Hertz customer service is very good. (See #4)
- Look all you want for “Karl’s Gift Shop.” The place is called “Carroll’s” (and the Belfast accent can be confusing.)
- The Titanic was fine when it left Belfast.
- Cork is a city, not something on a wine bottle. Even in fancy restaurants the wine bottles had twist caps. Irish crafters must be so sad!
- Spongebob is universal.
- The unplanned excursions are often the most fun. Don’t be afraid to step away from the itinerary!
One of our unexpected treasures. Can you believe the perfection of this place? |
