Eggnog Pops

Yep, you read that right, Eggnog Pops!

Here in Bimingham – well, really I can’t say “here” because it would take me a good 45 minutes with no traffic to get there, but anyway – here in Birmingham we have an awesome shop that sells gourmet popsicles called Steel City Pops.  They are the inspiration for today’s recipe.  They sell seasonal, locally sourced when possible pops, hand crafted at their store with love.  I could pretty much move in.

Having said that, the drive often keeps me away, seeing as I only go that far into town when I really have to.  I prefer to stay close to home tending my herd, gathering my eggs, schooling my children and so forth.  (I’m really not a recluse, I just play one on the internet.) Anyway, speaking of eggs and milk, I have those things coming out my ears, so I decided that instead of making our typical eggnog this year, I wanted to make eggnog pops!

Now, I used my standard go-to recipe for Eggnog from Alton Brown, but you just go ahead and mix up your favorite.  Update:  I added my own homemade eggnog recipe to the blog!  Check it out!  Add a little something special  if you are making these for the adults (black rum for me, please!), pour into molds and freeze!  We used the plastic ones, as pictured above, but also silicone ones that I ordered from Amazon that we just love!

The freezing was the hard part, because my children asked every 15 minutes for 4 hours if they were ready yet!  (P.S. If it won’t all fit in your molds, just go ahead and pour a glass for yourself while you wait.  You deserve it!)

I was amazed at how delicious these are!  And my children, who normally don’t enjoy eggnog were begging for more!  I hope you will give these gourmet pops a try and let me know what you think!

Before you do that though, will you leave me a comment and let me know if you love frozen desserts as much as I do?  Give me a bowl of ice cream or a creamy popsicle any day over a slice of cake!

Happily shared on the Backyard Farming Connection Hop, the Mountain Woman Rendezvous,  and the Clever Chicks Blog Hop!

  1. I’ll have to give these a try. I’m not an eggnog fan (only tried store bought!) but perhaps my frozen dessert fangirl’n can help me acquire a taste for it.
