Goat Myth Busters

Well my internet finally reset last night, but then I had to completely re-install Google Chrome in order to use Blogger, so I’m a bit behind today, but I’m here with a quick post!

Will goats really eat anything?

Goat Myth:  Goats will eat anything.

Goat Reality:  Goats will taste anything, but if it isn’t to their liking, they won’t actually eat it.

Goats are vegetarians.  Some of my goats adore “people” food such as crackers, cookies, bread, fruits and veggies, while others are highly suspicious and won’t go near them.  They also enjoy grass, leaves, hay and goat feed.  None of them will eat food if it has much garlic or onion flavor.  So, in that respect, people are often misinformed about what goats eat.

But just so that you know, that will not stop them from “tasting” your favorite pair of ear buds.  I would highly recommend NOT letting them hang out your back pocket while you are in the pasture.  Now you know.
So what about you?  Has a goat ever “tasted” any of your favorite stuff?

  1. Thought it was a good idea to park the flatbed in the pasture for shade for the baby goats. I could have built a really fancy goat lounge with the $150.00 I had to spend at the mechanic’s shop to rewire the running, tail, brake and license plate lights! Goats LOVE to chew wires. I’m real careful with the electric wires in the barn now, too. Cords all up very high out of reach.

    1. Ouch! Making a mental note not to park the trailer where the goats can get at it! Mine chewed through a wire on the lawnmower once and it wouldn’t turn off. My husband was so mad I was worried we were going to have BBQ goat for dinner! 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
